Sorry, some days, I just won’t shut u….
The Globe and Mail has this on the front page, 2:30pm, Ontario time: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-iran-allegedly-planned-to-assassinate-human-rights-crusader-irwin/
First, a Robert Fife article and his writing tends to support a narrative, not actually reveal news. So, the article is about Irwin Cotler and Iran. Apparently, Canadian CSIS agents prevented an assassination. Why would Iran plot to assassinate a Canadian Human Rights Advocate?
It wouldn’t.
Targeting Human Rights Advocates tends to draw attention to domestic or national situations. Iran may have problems, I don’t know. Since the crisis in Palestine, my views on Iran have changed; they support the Houthi and I ‘love’ them. Such an odd word. Respect? I respect the Houthi, recognize their morality and I know Iran endorses them. The one thing, I am 100% sure of (and long on record, with posts), is Iran has been accused of HELPING the Houthi but Iran has NOT actually supplied the Houthi with weapons. Stories are made up. The Houthi are brilliant, they have constructed their own weapons and, likely, changed capitalism. I think Western media would rather Iran have responsibility for Houthi manufactured weapons than admit home made guns defeated the American navy.
Anyhow
By extrapolation, right now, the Iranian government is probably not doing anything questionable. It has other concerns. Is it weird to assume Iran doesn’t have the history I’ve been led to believe?
I’ve listened to Ali Khameini; he’s seems like an okay guy. Not some over the top Religious ‘nut,’ anyhow.
Iran does have a problem with Israel. Not with a Faith group, but with the ‘zionist entity'.’
Would Iran plot to assassinate a well known zionist in Canada?
Does Mr. Cotler garner the same respect for being a zionist as being a Human Rights Advocate? A lot of news about Mr. Cotler refers to his efforts to combat anti-semitism. I actually think that brings up questions. How does a Human Rights Advocate support what Israel is doing in Palestine?
Post from The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/nov/18/iran-canada-irwin-cotler-assassination-plot
Everything about Mr. Cotler’s assassination attempt is from unnamed Canadian sources reminding me of Mr. Fife.
The story is likely propaganda.
And, sadly, I think, it has brought Mr. Cotler into disrepute. He fights holocausts against one Faith, but supports it for another?

The above opinion is based on information derived from a press which gathers its information from news services, and not an independent Reporter or Source. I am not debating the information just highlighting the validity of an opinion maker who makes assessments on International situations while at home. Like me?
With respect to the Indigenous and their water situation, the UN has investigated US, Canada, for Human Rights Abuses. Mr. Cotler wrote an opinion on the situation in January: https://law.ucalgary.ca/news/publication-news-strategy-achieving-indigenous-justice-seven-rs-plan. Seven R’s: recognition, respect, representation, responsiveness, redress, reconciliation, and renewal. However, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Indigenous situation was HERE last week: https://www.cbc.ca/news/indigenous/un-water-rapporteur-final-report-1.7377131 And, Mr. Cotler was silent. The UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Ms Albinese was also, here. She was trying to cajole us into supporting International Law, by extension, Human Rights. And, Mr. Cotler was silent. Israel has discredited the UN for Ms Albinese’s critical report. So, why Mr. Cotler’s silence on Mr. Arrojo-Agudo’s report? He is supposed to be a Human Rights Advocate and the Indigenous water situation is a Canadian crisis. The two are not the same. Or, are they in the sense anti-semitism is the priority, and not actually Human Rights?
And, which situation brings me back to Robert Fife’s article.
I don’t think Iran would waste their time on Mr. Cotler.
Quick interjection, a lot of Robert Fife articles are about other countries spying on us, interfering in our elections, assassinations and attempts. I think a lot of media is showy self-importance because we have lost so much status on the World stage and are increasingly isolated. And, happening since PM Harper, not just PM Trudeau.
No one is interested in what Canada has, or Canadians have, to say. We’d have to hold a principle on something and, clearly, we don’t.
