The Art Scam
Forgive the posting. Sister Wendy was a very popular Art Critic when I was growing up. Just, this really annoyed me: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/art-and-architecture/article-as-tax-breaks-drive-art-donations-canadas-public-galleries-overflow/.
To quote: Thanks to decades of incentives to private donors, curators with too little space for storage and exhibits must now renovate and grow, or sell and diversify.
Basically, a piece of work is bought and appraised, takes on the label of Art, subsequently insured, so, ‘valued,’ and then donated to a Public Institution as a charitable donation, then allowed to be claimed as a Tax credit. Subsequently enabling less tax be paid. It’s bs, and why we have so much ‘Art’ that a 3 year old could do.
I am not at all discrediting Artistic Work that becomes popular or some see as important, I am discrediting work that takes on value because of its usage as tax credit.
The rich are psychopaths. And, I do see that as mental illness.
There should be a desire to help one’s community not a desire to improve it for a tax break.
Clean Slate because these bozos having taking way too much from all of us for way too long. Way too long. What a scam. That’s why there’s way too much Art.
