Galen and Buds are probably raising the prices on Canadian grocery products, right now, because that’s what I would do if I was a capitalist.

Raise prices on products People WANT, not because there is actually a product shortage. Arguing greater product demand to justify increased prices rather than explain market control based on lower cost American products which enable greater profit. And, rely on Child Labour (I kid you not): link (why I have a problem with CUSMA).

Cheaper products weirdly provide greater profit because we’re in an artificial market, not one governed by supply and demand.

But, I am not a capitalist, I am a Marxist and a Consumer feckn tired of being taken advantage of: grocers’ greed is killing me.

I am about to advocate price controls because the grift has gone on too long. Lots of previous posts about the Bread price fixing, the Potato cartel and the travesty of meat shorting: link. People do realize Netflix even has a series about the Maple Syrup ‘mob:’

I kid you not when I say they’re all psychopaths.

Products haven’t legitimately been in excess demand or somehow improved for years, generations, but PROFIT has nonetheless increased. And, causes an uptick in the Consumer Price Index which affects how the BOC interprets Inflation and justifies their increases of Interest Rates. bs. I tell you, it’s all bs.

And, which PROFIT is PROTECTED because none of the Canadian politicians demand higher taxes on profits or reasonable governance to limit profit or just demand public accountability for grocery store prices.
