Overplaying A Hand
In the Globe and Mail: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-carney-trump-march-phone-call-51st-state-comments/
In the most recent phone call between Canadian PM Carney and American President Trump, the topic of Canada as 51st American state, apparently, was discussed. Mr. Carney is too intelligent a person to take a moron like Mr. Trump seriously. Apparently, he did, though. And, Mr. Trump seems to honestly believe Canada was originally considered part of the US.
Now, I do have an attitude about Rhodes Scholars, and I know Mr. Carney ONLY went to Oxford as an MA Student, but to remotely consider Mr. Trump’s remarks seriously is discreditable to the University.
Further, highlights the conformity abeyance typical off the well educated; they are well educated, but certainly not original thinkers. Clearly not individual ones.
Makes me think of the International Rules Based Order, its demise and how we don’t discuss what is replacing it.
Someone is telling Mr. Carney, it is good to prey on Canadian insecurities to win an election. It could also cost one, too. As I’ve written before cons and libs are the same, economically the same. Clara Mattei influence again: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/60557026-the-capital-order. Real difference would be to be economically AND philosophically united in a political party, so, a completely different perspective on the domestic economy.
cons and libs are philosophically different in the capitalist system; the problem in Canada is in the ECONOMICS of capitalism. A conservative can uphold his traditional beliefs and still believe in state funded Education and Healthcare, Marxism, even, but that option is never considered.
We debate window dressings rather than recognize the window glass is shattered. Actually, the window has been cemented, so, we all have the same view. A blocked one. Make sense? Hope the metaphor works.
Anyhow
Canada is the only country in the world to burn down the White House.
A good point against American antagonism. However, constantly bringing up the 51st state threat is political theatre to affect politics here.
I, for one, have no problem with a con government using Mr. Carney to confront Mr. Trump. He doesn’t have to be PM. My antipathy with Mr. Pollierve is because he gave a n$#@ an ovation. I forgive no MP who did, October, 2023. None of them knew their Canadian history.
Whenever Mr. Trump threatens Canada, it is because he thinks it is easy propaganda—deceptive nonsense? The American Military has not won a war in 80 years, and they want to be seen as powerful by attacking Canada? Their friend?
With absolute respect to Yemen, and I sincerely admire the country, the Americans couldn’t even defeat the poorest country in the world.
The Carney/Trump language is window dressing to distract. Probably from the usual rich guys stealing from the rest. The IRBO demise? And, I wish it would stop. Canada has its own issues—particularly, a confrontation with austerity politics language that dominates our media. The United States? The Americans have serious problems with an idiot in charge and People listening to him like he knows what is he doing. He doesn’t and everybody else is worried. It is sad, pathetically so.
Anyhow, we don’t have to worry and it is fear mongering to pretend we do.

Clearly, we have problems: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/catherine-mckenna-mark-carney-1.7518016, I honestly saw Carney as better than Pouilierve because he did not applaud a n$#@, but we are obviously in trouble. Bonhoeffer said stupidity is a virus.
