On the Buses
It surprises me this hasn’t made the news in a big way: https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/299-Long-Haul-Electric-Bus-Pilot-Launched-in-UK.html
So, I advocate government funded Health, Education, Roads and, new, Communication to enable a Healthy, Smart Workforce able to get work, or to use the internet to Work. China has quite a successful Economy funding Health, Education and Roads; so, Socialism with Chinese characteristics supports Workers and Free Enterprise. Just without actual Worker representation. Germany used to have a Successful Economy funding Health, Education, and Roads, and, obviously, supported innovative Businesses. With Worker representation.
An adaption, here, would be Frank Stronach’s idea of Worker/ Ownership participation. And, FREE Healthcare, Education and Roads. Obviously, a Democratic Socialist idea. Verging on Marxist. Instead of the mishmash we currently have.
Anyhow, my point is about ENGLISH government support of Transportation: ROADS.
England’s road system still hasn’t been privatized, like here. Ontario has the 407, there are toll roads all over the place in Canada; gas taxes exist, even carbon ones, to disguise the paying of gas taxes for highway maintenance is actually a method of monopolization by Internal Combustion (read oil) forms of transport.
Hence, why the propaganda about EV controversies, and their consequently slow adoption, here.
And, the absence of press about China, Germany and England becoming 100% EV real quick.
It has nothing to do with the Weather.
A PRIVATE electric bus company in England is beginning 2.99 English Pound journeys; London to Bristol is one. The three month trial is to begin in June.
That’s like $5.00 for a Bus ride Toronto to Barrie.
Currently, via an Easypass on a government supported GO train, it costs $10.00 from city to city.
An EV Bus means Half price.
That’s a big deal, and why EVs will dominate, just a matter time. The EV ride is CHEAP.
Believe it or not, this why Capitalism is failing.
Which is MORE important, to generate Capital by making the MOST profit or to provide the CHEAPEST service yet make a profit? We live in a world dominated by the philosophy of the former when the reality is we are driven by the motivations of the latter.
Already written about how I respect Environmentalists, but I am not actually anti-oil. I can’t actually afford a TESLA. What I am looking at, for eventually, are Cars like VINFAST where I don’t have to buy a battery every 5 years, or ever because they replace them free (and still make money) or BAIDU trucks which are cheap, and a home charger with Solar panels. Or the EV Hondas or KIAs or…
If I don’t have to pay for something, I’m not going to begging the question why companies think people will?
