How is Unanimity Defended?
A n$#@ being given an unanimous standing ovation is blamed on the previous speaker of the House, Antony Rota. No one seems to be considering the UNANIMITY of it.
We were all taught World War Two History in High School; the Grade 9/10 curriculum in Ontario: https://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/secondary/canworld910curr2018.pdf With emphasis on the understanding of consequences.
From the Canadian History Portal’s lesson plans for grades 9&10: https://www.canadashistory.ca/education/lesson-plans/snapshots-in-twentieth-century-canadian-history-19 with emphasis on investigation.
There is NO debate Russia was Canada’s ally during World War Two.
And, so, the question becomes why did NO Member of Parliament, pause? Consider? Why did NO ONE say Russia was on our side during WW2? Is enmity towards the country so great, we will overlook our own History? For Ukraine?
That country that fought on the n$#@ side: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_collaboration_with_Nazi_Germany. Ukrainian History gets into the Ukrainian independence movement and why Ukrainians fought with Germany over the Soviet Federation. To quote Wiki: Still, until the spring of 1943 neutrality was maintained between the Borovets detachments and the Soviet partisans.[9] Parallel to the negotiations with the Soviets, Borovets continued to try to reach an agreement with the Germans. In November 1942, he met with Obersturmbannführer Puts, the head of the security service of Volhynia and Podolia general district.
In November 1943, during negotiations with the Germans, Borovets was arrested by the Gestapo in Warsaw and incarcerated in Sachsenhausen concentration camp.[10] In the autumn of 1944, the Nazis, looking for Ukrainian support in a war they were by then losing, freed Borovets.[11] He was forced to change his nom de guerre to Kononenko and under this name he led the formation of a Ukrainian special forces detachment of around 50 men under the Waffen-SS. This detachment was to be dropped in the rear of the Red Army for guerrilla warfare. Those plans never came to fruition.
The point is CANADIAN History, and WE fought the n$#@, the Waffen SS., alongside the Russians.
I doubt ANY of OUR Soldiers had sympathies for Ukraine during WW2. It is inexcusable OUR politicians did not know WE fought with Russia during it. Or, could overlook or forget that fact?
Not one of them stood up for Canada.
So, how does one vote for any of our current politicians? In the next election?
Please note, not an indictment of any political party. They ALL stood up, and let the rest of us down. I think that is important. NOT ONE stood up for us.
